2010 the last year of the first decade in the 21st century was a good year for me! I grew quite a bit this year. I got braces early in the year. My hair grew quite long and I got some side bangs. All in all, I looked quite different by the time the year came to an end.

Turned 11 in April. Had two parties. For one, I went to a movie with my school friends. The other was a sleepover party.

In school news, I finished fifth grade and became one of the Seniors in school joining Mrs. Ledesma's sixth grade class. I got admitted into the GATE program. My first school basketball season was a blast, with our team having an undefeated season. Got selected for the 2010-11 season too. Got elected as a Safety Patrol Captain. The most exciting school experience was the four day Science Camp at Camp Campbell in Boulder Creek. I won both in literature and visual arts categories in Reflections. Was elected the class representative to the Student Council third year in a row. Early in the year, the Student Council put together a concert to raise funds for the Haiti earthquake victims. Played the piano and sang the song "The Climb" for the school variety show. Leah and I started walking to school by ourselves.

We spent the summer in India, mostly in Kerala, with a short trip to Bangalore. It was great to spend time with my cousins, grand parents, uncles, and aunts. Ended the year with a trip to Oahu. Earlier in the year, went on a fun skiing trip with friends to Bear Valley and an even more fun whitewater rafting trip. Spent couple summer nights in Yosemite. Deepa chechy visited us during Thanksgiving. There were the other usual fun outings like parties, sleepovers, attending basketball games, walks in the park, museum visits, and so on. Even went for a real play in San Francisco.

I continued my piano lessons, taking another exam in June. In school band, I continued to do Percussion instruments. Stopped guitar classes since I couldn't find time to practice. Continued with art, singing, and swimming. Did ice skating in the beginning of the year. Even took a horse riding class. When in Trivandrum, Appachan took us for a week of magic classes. Learned quite a few tricks!

Reading continued to be my favorite pastime. Became a fan of the Rick Riordan books. Spent time writing too. I continued to enjoy drawing and painting. Got quite good at nail art! I enjoyed hosting parties, taking special care in decorations, and setting up of snacks!

Here are some haikus I wrote in 2010..

Leaves rustle outside,
Rain patters on the window
A peaceful Spring night

The ocean is calm
Gentle waves come onto shore
Seagulls soar above

Dew settles on leaves
They slowly drop off the edge
Landing with a splash

What a fun year!! Here are some pictures....
